Mission Statement

On an ongoing basis, The National Association for Black Veterans, Inc. (NABVETS) will provide strategic advocacy on behalf of its membership with Congress, the Federal Administration, State Administrations, government and non-government organizations. NABVETS will provide personal advocacy on behalf of - Veterans seeking claims against the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Youth in all matters required for successful passage into adulthood Families, to protect culture and improve overall quality of our communities With community involvement, provide advocacy in creating positive lifestyles for veterans And to generate and preserve the historical record.

About This Cause

The National Association for Black Veterans, Inc. is: A Nationally Certified Veterans Service Organization and a United States Department of Veterans Affairs claims representative for the purpose of benefits and discharge upgrade services An INCLUSIVE membership organization open to ALL, with membership and chapters throughout the United States and Puerto Rico Working in unity with the Community to end homelessness, empower low-income and minority veterans An organization that works with disadvantaged youth Preserving the historical contributions of minority veterans, such as the Congressional approved National Day of Honor (May 25th) NABVETS IN THE COMMUNITY: In addition to our Outreach and Community Relations efforts, NABVETS PDX works with our members, the community and our Community Partners to address the issues of Housing and Homeless prevention Food, clothing, and related resource development Employment resources Youth mentor-ship and support Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery Our Community Outreach efforts include, but are not limited to the following: Annual Veterans’ Day Parade Black History Month Celebrations and speaking engagements Memorial Day Commemoration at Willamette National Cemetery Multnomah County Veterans Task Force and Executive Committee Thanksgiving and Christmas / Holiday Meals Holiday Toy Give-away for children in need of basic and additional support Numerous Veteran Stand Down and Veteran Support events The Annual ‘Good ‘n the Hood’ Parade and Festival Feel free to contact NABVETS PDX if you have an idea or an event that we can be a part of!
