About This Cause

Dzogchen Shri Singha of Portland (DSSP) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004. Since its founding, DSSP has sponsored many teachings by the Precious Teacher and lineage teachers throughout the greater Portland metro area, as well as Salem and Vancouver, WA. DSSP members have attended many retreats and internships and participated in many beneficial activities including a weekly Dharma Path study of Khenpo Kunpal’s Commentary on Shantideva’s Entering the Conduct of the Bodhisattvas; a nationwide search for retreat land culminating in the 2007 purchase of 160 pristine acres in Lane County, Oregon; the editing of many of Khenpo’s translated writings, including books, documents, brochures, and papers; and the support of monastic and lay students to attend Dzogchen Buddha Path Retreats across the western states. DSSP offers ongoing weekly teachings and weekend workshops, and an annual weeklong seasonal retreat for beginning and continuing dharma students and continues to support activities at the Dzogchen Retreat Center USA. Since the inception of the annual Dzogchen Lineage Internship in 2008, DSSP has concentrated on supporting the training of teachers and potential Dzogchen Lineage holders.
