Mission Statement
The Purposes of the William B. Travis Elementary Parent Teacher Association are to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community; to raise the standards of home life; to bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; and to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social spiritual education.
About This Cause
William B. Travis Elementary is located in Houston, Texas and serves more than 700 children from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Additionally, it is a magnet school for gifted and talented children. The William B. Travis Elementary PTA raises funds and implements programs that enhance the education and well-being of each student. The Travis PTA provides for Writers in the Schools, a creative writing program; Everyday Mathematics, a comprehensive math program; STEMscopes science curriculum material as well as a science lab; updated classroom technology; field trips; teacher education grants; funding for gardening programs and field day among numerous other activities.
