Mission Statement
Junior Achievement (JA) of Dallas, a nonprofit organization, inspires and prepares at-risk youth to succeed in a global economy through volunteer-delivered K-12 curriculum focusing on our three pillars: financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work-readiness skills. With blended curriculum and digital components, Junior Achievement continues to help students see the relevance and importance of education in their lives.
About This Cause
In a world full of complicated challenges and setbacks for personal and professional growth, students need real-world experimental learning preparation to be successful. JA students are introduced to the elements of successful business start-ups, hands-on budgeting simulations, learn need and want differences, plus many more everyday financial skills. Established in Dallas in 1954, JA of Dallas has updated curriculum and is more relevant today than ever with over 4,000 volunteers, who gave of their time to provide business role models, basic business skills, and financial literacy to the most at-risk students; thus, impacting over 120,000 Dallas area students this year. All our JA stakeholders help students dream big and reach their potential so that they have the power to be financially wise and career-ready young adults. JA of Dallas is an excellent partner in preparing young people with emphasizing and implementing practicum lessons to become future-ready. One of our students, Lisa, become part of JA and learned about financial terms such as building a bank account and starting a business. After her high school graduation, she started her own business of cosmetics earning around $1 million a year with all the resources from JA.
