Mission Statement
Inspiring, teaching and empowering women and families to overcome violence, crisis and poverty is the mission of The Women’s Center. The Women’s Center operates one of the most comprehensive rape crisis and victim services programs in the country. It is also a leader in employment programs for unemployed and underemployed women and men and is a constant source of support for women and families in crisis and transition.
About This Cause
At The Women’s Center: • Child and adult victims of rape, sexual abuse, battering and other violent crime heal emotionally and resume productive lives. • Children ages 4-18 learn how to reduce the risk of sexual and physical abuse and how to seek help if victimized. Adults learn how to recognize signs of abuse and how to help victimized children. • Women and men find jobs and advance in the labor market. • Low-income families leave welfare and escape poverty. • Women and families in crisis develop new coping strategies and get their lives back on track.
