Mission Statement

MISSION Momentous Institute, founded by Salesmanship Club of Dallas in 1920, is dedicated to innovative mental health services, education, and professional training to strengthen children, families, and communities. VISION As the only Dallas nonprofit offering mental health services and operating an elementary school, Momentous strives to build a world of emotionally thriving people, reaching their full potential.

About This Cause

Momentous Institute offers three direct service programs: 1) psychotherapy and parent education to 2,500 individuals and families, 2) nationally recognized elementary education through Momentous School to 248 students and their families, and 3) training, coaching, and consultation to over 3,000 professionals nationwide. Supported by research, our three pillars inform each other, creating a unique synergy between programs. Our work began when the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, a service organization of more than 675 business and community leaders, launched the mission of Momentous Institute. Since our inception, the agency has pioneered innovative services, including the nation's first year-round, residential treatment camp for teens. While services have evolved over many decades, our goal continues to be to create transformational change for children and families through strengthening social emotional and mental health with innovative, evidence-based programming. Today, as the only Dallas non-profit offering mental health services and operating an elementary school, Momentous creates a unique synergy between programs as we strive to build a world of emotionally thriving people, reaching their full potential. Both our school and our training and research programs have been informed by our decades of leadership in mental health, specifically in the treatment of complex trauma. The Momentous Institute model is unique in the North Texas region for its systems-based approach to trauma-informed care, which provides comprehensive direct services that focus on the whole child in the classroom or tailored mental health support to the individual client, coupled with strong parent involvement. The FY25 Momentous Institute budget was developed with an expectation to secure 75% of the overall revenue from THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and Salesmanship Club of Dallas Foundation, with the remaining 25% of revenue secured through gifts and grants from community-based support. This 25% in gifts and grants, which equals $4 Million in FY25, is crucial to maintain the high quality of instruction in the Momentous School classrooms and provide cutting-edge professional development and support to our staff. If funding is not granted, we will continue to reach out to current and new partners to invest in our work.
