About This Cause
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency for 25 years, Legacy Cares has continuously provided affordable and quality mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and special care housing services to people who HIV/AIDS impacts. Legacy originated from the passion of psychotherapists to assist those living with and suffering from AIDS by addressing health behaviors, clinical issues, as well as social and economic factors. As a result of their efforts, we have assisted thousands of North Texans and helped create a healthier community by assisting them in times of crisis, reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS through education, and decreasing the cost of healthcare to society. Among our many direct services, Legacy offers individual, couples, family, and group counseling, men’s and women’s groups, 24-hour emergency on-call services, walk-in clinic, minority outreach counseling, intensive outpatient program (IOP), supportive outpatient program, and aftercare groups for substance abuse, special care housing (i.e., Founders Cottage), housing referral services (i.e., Homebase for Housing), homeless programs (i.e., Master Leasing Program), and women’s programs (i.e., Grace Project), including the nation’s largest conference for women living with HIV themselves. Our agency is well known for the quality and timeliness of our evidence-based, direct services among HIV/AIDS service providers and other community agencies. Legacy Counseling Center is the largest and primary provider of HIV-specific counseling services in North Texas. Legacy will continue to protect, promote, and preserve the health of our diverse populations of HIV-positive clients and improve the lives of those adversely affected by HIV from the moment of their diagnosis to their final breath.
