Mission Statement
Our Mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
About This Cause
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, Inc. (HFHGG) started in 1993 when a group of interested individuals began looking for a way to bring affordable housing to lower income families in Garland. A year later, they were certified as a Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Since then, HFHGG has dedicated over 90 homes to deserving families in our community, and served over 100 existing homes with Major Critical Repairs. HFHGG has partnered with the GISD Building Trades classes at Naaman Forest and North Garland High Schools since 2003 to build one Habitat home each year. Once near completion, these 'school houses' are moved to open lots, and finished out by Habitat for Humanity volunteers. We also enjoy a close working relationship with the City of Garland as well as a number of dedicated financial partners. HFHGG is a United Way Service Provider. Also known as Garland Area Habitat for Humanity (GAHFH), HFHGG brings volunteers and resources together with families in need to build simple, decent, affordable homes in Garland, Rowlett, and Sachse, TX. We select new partner families through a Family Selection Information Meeting open to anyone willing to live in our service area. “Partner Families” must meet Habitat International’s qualifications: demonstrate a need for affordable housing, be willing to partner, and have the ability to make an affordable mortgage payment.
