About This Cause
COVID-19 UPDATES ICTC did the pivot to on-line meetings for our members and committees. Social media vaccine education is the method of vaccine education. Collaborating with member agencies getting vaccine and general health information out to our community is on-going. ICTC is hosting 4 weeks of Back To School Vaccine events at Ridgmar Mall, Fort Worth, Texas. Starting August 2-27 2021. ICTC is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to the systematic eradication of vaccine- preventable diseases in Tarrant County, North Texas, Fort Worth region. ICTC projects directly improve the health and well-being of children teens and adults through low cost vaccine events, community education on the importance of childhood immunizations and advocacy for better vaccine systems, since 1991. ICTC has over 40 affiliate networking organizations and agencies. What We Do • Host Low Cost Vaccine Events. Typically, we host 5 low cost vaccine events over 23 days in August throughout Tarrant County. At these events, Tarrant County Public Health Immunization Outreach provides vaccines to children 0 to 18 years old. Children enrolled in CHIP or Medicaid pay nothing, others pay a low-cost administration fee for vaccines. The administration fee is $8 for each shot, but no one is turned away. Most events also provide vaccines to uninsured adults (aged 19+) at $15 administration fee per dose. These fees cover the costs to administer the vaccines, which are distributed to Tarrant County through the Center for Disease Control (CDC). • Provide Adolescent Immunizations: We work with Tarrant County Public Health Immunization Outreach and public-school nurses to facilitate 110 on-site vaccine days at school for 6th graders, from January to May. These events help students meet the Texas vaccine requirements for 7th grade attendance and others receive HPV series updates and Meningitis booster vaccines for college. • Create Awareness and Outreach: We work to assure that our community is aware of credible information supporting the importance and safety of vaccines. In addition to social and print media, we network with affiliated agencies to provide the most updated information on vaccines to childcare providers, new mothers, grandparents and medical providers and more. • We Advocated for Better Vaccine Policy’s: We collaborate with member agencies to educate legislators and the public about better vaccine policy. We advocate policy to keep our communities safe from vaccine preventable diseases How We Do What We Do • Collaboration.
