DPAS ASSIST THE OFFICER FOUNDATION

DALLAS, Texas, 75215-1101 United States

Mission Statement

ATO provides financial assistance to Dallas area police officers who are facing the loss of income due to a serious injury, life-threatening illness or other catastrophic event.

About This Cause

Law enforcement officers serve and protect our communities and face tremendous work-related risk challenges daily, often risking their lives to ensure the safety of the community. When an officer is injured, a setback can bring financial ruin – especially if the officer is the sole provider for their family. During recovery, the last thing an officer should have to worry about is how he or she will make ends meet. Additionally, death benefits are payable to active-duty Dallas officers and for line-of-duty deaths of Dallas Firefighters and surrounding area police officers. Since its creation in 1999, the Foundation has provided assistance to thousands of officers and their families who were faced with different life-altering situations. In 2004, ATO launched a first of its kind confidential counseling service, exclusively for Dallas Police Officers. The stress of everyday life can take a toll on almost anyone – add to that the danger and stress of being a police officer – and sometimes life can be overwhelming. The confidential counseling program was designed for police officers by police officers and counseling professionals working together. Each year, ATO hosts the annual Bill Carollo Assist the Officer Golf Tournament and Bags for Badges as their primary fundraisers. Via the golf tournament and Bags for Badges event, the Foundation receives financial support from local sponsors and organizations. As resources allow, the Foundation will continue its growth by adding new programs to meet the needs of police officers in an ever-changing world.
