Mission Statement
•AHS has been certified as an exemplary school by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 2007 QUALITY REVIEW STANDARDS •Curriculum based on standards set by National Council of Teachers in Math, English, Science and Social Studies •A separate curriculum for Arabic, Quran and Islamic Studies •Qualified teachers with certification or enrolled in a certification program •National testing ERB, CAT - See comparative information on pg. 38-41 of 2007 Quality Review Standard Report •City & State wide competitions - Spelling Bees, Future City, PSIA •Every student will be developed as a whole; physically, spiritually, academically, and emotionally.
About This Cause
A safe and comfortable environment promotes student learning. Faith, knowledge and good deeds are the key to our children's success. Cultural diversity increase students' understanding of different peoples and cultures. Islamic environment helps students prepare for future challenges by developing their spiritual compass. Every student is unique in physical, spiritual, social, intellectual, and emotional needs and attributes. Students learn to make appropriate decisions given a balanced supportive and challenging environment. Staff, parents, and the community are role models and share the responsibility for advancing the AHS mission. Curriculum and instructional practices should incorporate a variety of learning activities to accommodate differences in learning styles. Students' learning is the chief priority and includes understanding of knowledge as well as developing critical thinking and problem solving skills. The commitment to continuous improvement enables students to become confident lifelong learners. The inclusion of Islamic Principles in the curriculum with an emphasis on ideology and morality is necessary to instill proper values and behavior in students.
