Mission Statement

By fostering the art of creative writing, the mission of Inprint is to inspire readers and writers in Houston.

About This Cause

Since 1983, Inprint has served as the city’s leading advocate for writers and the literary arts. Committed to inspiring readers and writers and celebrating Houston’s rich diversity, Inprint facilitates equitable access to the literary arts by hosting free and affordable readings and educational programs that provide opportunities for lifelong literary learning, support the next generation of creative writers, empower community storytellers, and connect the world’s foremost authors with Houston’s large and appreciative audiences. Through decades of dedicated and consistent effort, Inprint has created and supported a vibrant community of readers and writers, securing Houston’s reputation as an international focal point for the literary arts. Inprint readings, writing workshops, and collaborative initiatives serve 15,000 people annually and attract Houstonians of all ages and backgrounds. Targeted community writing workshops serve senior citizens, schoolteachers, healthcare workers, veterans, people who are incarcerated, and other groups. Ordinarily, Inprint House serves as the setting for many of our tuition-based writers workshops and free community and bilingual readings, while several of our free community workshops are also held at various locations across Greater Houston to ensure readers and writers across the city’s diverse communities have access to our programming. In response to the ongoing pandemic, Inprint has pivoted from its nationally recognized in-person programming to virtual readings and writing workshops, to great success.
