Mission Statement
We train dogs to help people with disabilities live with greater independence, security and unconditional love. We also help unwanted dogs abandoned to animal shelters live renewed lives of love and service. We turn strays into stars.
About This Cause
Living with a severe loss of hearing can result in daily inconveniences such as burning food in the oven, missing visitors and sleeping through the alarm clock to life threatening occurrences such as not hearing a smoke alarm, a honking car or a child calling for help. Loss of the use of one's hands, arms and legs affects safety, health and quality of life. Dropped car or house keys, falling out of a wheelchair, not being able to open a door or the refrigerator, inability to remove a jacket, jeans or socks, having an arm or leg spasm and dangle off a wheelchair armrest or foot rest are all common challenges. A Hearing or Service Dog greatly increases its partner's quality of life by providing independence, security, and unconditional love. Additionally, the dogs provide a social bridge encouraging their disabled partners to participate more fully in the community through continuing education, employment and volunteerism. We train Hearing Dogs to alert their deaf partners to sounds and Service Dogs to assist their mobility challenged partners with a wide variety of tasks. We operate from a six acre training campus in Dripping Springs. We serve the whole state of Texas. Our use of shelter dogs also helps the plight of unwanted animals. We also train Courthouse Facility Dogs to help abused children and other victims of trauma find their voice in court. We also train Emergency Services Facility Dogs to support First Responder mental health'
