Our Mission: Children's Safe Harbors' mission is to protect & enhance the life of every child who has the courage to battle sexual and physical abuse. Our Vision: With a team of community & professional agencies united, we are committed to counsel the mind and heal the body of brave children and prosecute the offenders of the youngest and most vulnerable victims of our society. Our Goal: The goal of Children's Safe Harbor is to reduce the trauma of child victims &their non-offending caregivers by facilitating a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team approach to intervention, investigation, prosecution & treatment of child sexual & severe physical abuse.
About This Cause
Forensic interviewing A forensic interview is a fact-finding interview to find out if a child has been maltreated and is usually the first step in most investigations. A forensic interview enables children to make their disclosures on videotape, allowing all professionals involved in the case to view the taped statements, rather than submitting the child to repeated interviews. This approach produces evidence that will stand up in court if the investigation leads to prosecution. Children's Safe Harbor conducts video taped interviews of children ages 2 to 17 who are alleged victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, and/or witness to a violent crime. amily Advocacy Our Family Advocates work directly with the children and non-offending caregivers seen at our children's advocacy center. Family Advocates ensure that non-offending family members have the necessary resources to navigate the civil and criminal justice systems. Family Advocates can assist with referrals for mental/medical health needs, support groups, and other community resources. Our Family Advocates play a key role in helping to support the child victim and the non-offending caregiver throughout the healing and justice process.
