Mission Statement
Bay Nature connects the people of the Bay Area to our natural world and motivates people to solve problems with nature in mind.
About This Cause
Bay Nature Institute is an independent nonprofit organization that publishes the award-winning Bay Nature magazine and baynature.org, leads the Bay Nature Talks webinar series, and hosts the annual Local Hero Awards. In Bay Nature you’ll find deeply reported and scientifically rigorous stories about the natural environment, conservation, and wildlife in the Bay Area’s nine counties. Bay Nature stories are enhanced by photos taken by talented local photographers, illuminating maps and charts, and artwork. Bay Nature magazine reaches some 13,000 readers; and with our e-newsletters, Facebook page, Twitter feed, Instagram, and YouTube channel, we connect with over 800,000 online viewers annually. At the Local Hero Awards each year, Bay Nature honors the contributions of a conservation activist, an environmental educator, a community hero, and an up-and-coming young conservationist at our annual gala dinner.
