Mission Statement
Wish Book and Share the Spirit are the annual holiday giving program of The Mercury News and the East Bay Times. For more than 30 years, Wish Book and Share the Spirit have helped people and organizations in our community realize their wishes. The needs can be as simple as toiletries for someone who is homeless; food for low-income seniors; or a new wheelchair for a disabled child. The San Jose Mercury News Wish Book Fund and East Bay Times Share the Spirit Fund encourage civic philanthropy by seeking donations to individuals, groups and organizations in need in the newspapers' primary circulation area of Santa Clara, San Mateo, Contra Costa, San Benito, Alameda, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties in California. Donations are solicited on behalf of these individuals, groups, and organizations through an annual series of Wish Book and Share the Spirit stories that appear in the newspaper and online from Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. The powerful stories highlight the critical services that donors can help to provide.
