Mission Statement

Central California Food Bank is the region’s largest non-profit organization focused solely on ending hunger. Our mission is to fight hunger by gathering and distributing food, engaging in partnerships that advance self-sufficiency, and providing community leadership on issues related to hunger.

About This Cause

Central California Food Bank (CCFB) provides food to over 300,000 people each month, including 100,000 children throughout Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, and Kern counties. Our comprehensive feeding programs include our Groceries2Go contactless pickup sites; Neighborhood Market & Mobile Pantry fresh produce distributions; Child Hunger Programs (Backpack & School Pantry programs); Senior Hunger Heart Healthy Box Distributions; Farmworker Community Partnership Program; Workforce Development; USDA Emergency Food Assistance; Maternal Wellness Initiative; Healthcare Partnership Program; BIPOC Small Farmer Engagement Initiative; and our newest food distribution site, First Fruits Market – Fresno’s first free “grocery store.” We distribute foods in specific neighborhoods designated as low-income census tracts by the U.S. Census Bureau to make the greatest impact. Strong partnerships with local farmers, food processors, and grocers give us unique buying power with which we can acquire fresh produce. Central California Food Bank also uses GIS mapping data to inform where food distributions should take place based on need, race, and place. Community Impact: In 2023, CCFB acquired over 50.5 million pounds of food, including 21,500,998 pounds of produce. We supported our Member Partner Network of 241 distribution partners and increased access to nutritious staple dietary needs, including dairy and protein. We expanded school-based Child Hunger programs to serve 7,000 households per month and provided 140,936 pounds of culturally appropriate food through our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Small Farmer Engagement Initiative. In September 2023, we opened First Fruits Market, Fresno’s First FREE Grocery Store, where we served over 11,845 households and 37,904 individuals.
