Mission Statement

BHRSC is an all-volunteer organization, the total of each donation goes directly toward saving hounds in shelters, on the streets and surrendered by owners. We apply all raised funds to rehabilitation, veterinary care and finding forever homes for every hound we rescue.

About This Cause

Basset Hound Rescue of Southern CA (BHRSC) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the care and placement of homeless Basset Hounds throughout Southern California. It is virtual organization with no fixed facilities. The majority of hounds awaiting adoption are housed at foster families volunteering their home and time to care for the dog until its placed in an adoptetive home. BHRSC is 100% volunteer organization with over 90 volunteers across Southern California spending hours each week helping transport hounds to and from shelters, to and from vet appointments, attending fund raising events, and fostering homeless hounds until adopted. BHRSC is directed by an all volunteer Executive Committee donating more than 250 hours each week ensure dogs find their forever homes. All funds raised by BHRSC are due to the efforts of its volunteer network. Over 95% of donations are used to provide health care and cover boarding costs for homeless hounds.
