Mission Statement

• Coyote Creek Youth Sports was established in 1990, and our mission is articulated by our motto: "The Development of Youth through Sports." This statement speaks to the desire of the men and women who volunteer their time and energy to assist young people in our community by providing them with a well organized and positive environment for both physical and mental development. This time and energy is offered in the hope that it will allow the boys and girls active in our program to learn skills that foster confidence and self esteem. A strong work ethic, discipline, respect for authority, teamwork, perseverance and positive thinking. We believe that these skills are the keys to excellence not only in athletics, but in life.

About This Cause

Coyote Creek Youth Sports is a non-profit youth sports organization located in San Jose, California. We currently operate a youth football and cheerleading program based at Yerba Buena High, which is located in South Central San Jose. We have approximately 200 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 15 involved in our program. Our football and cheerleading program started in 1990 and was originally affiliated with the San Jose PAL football conference. We excelled in San Jose PAL athletic competition winning two divisional championships in 1992, 1993, 1995; three divisional championships in 1996; and all four divisional championships in 1994. This achievement marked the first time, that feat had been accomplished in the twenty five-year history of the San Jose PAL Football Conference Beginning with the 1997 season, Coyote Creek Youth Sports began an affiliation with the Peninsula Pop Warner Little Scholars Football Conference. Pop Warner Little Scholars is national youth football and cheerleading program founded in 1929 by the legendary football coach Glenn" Pop" Warner. The Pop Warner football and cheerleading season culminates with national championship playoffs contested by youth football teams and cheerleading squads from across the nation. The desire to provide greater athletic competition for both our football and cheerleading programs led us to this new affiliation. Since beginning our participation in 1997, our football and cheer teams have won multiple Conference and Regional Pop Warner championships. Our 2002 Jr. Pee Wee team won the Division I Conference championship and advanced to the Pop Warner National championships placing 3rd in the nation. Our Midget Cheer team has advanced to the National Pop Warner finals in 2006, 2007 and 2009. In 2010, our Junior Midget Cheer team made their first trip to the Pop Warner National Championships. In 2015, our Midget football team made their first trip to the Pop Warner National Championships. It is important to acknowledge that our accomplishments on the football field represent just one part of an overall program designed to foster the academic and character development as well as the athletic development of our participants. The boys and girls in our program are required to participate in the Pop Warner Scholastic Certification program that is designed to encourage high academic achievement among the players and cheerleaders in our organization. The Peninsula Pop Warner Scholastic Certification Committee selects players and cheerleaders to the Scholastic All Conference team. We are extremely proud that since 1998 over 80% of Coyote Creek players and cheerleaders were selected to either the First, Second or Third Scholastic All Conference teams. Several of our children have since been elected into the Scholastic Hall of Fame having been on the Scholastic All Conference teams for a minimum three years. The Board and Staff of Coyote Creek Youth Sports are dedicated to fulfilling our organizational motto, which is "The Development of Youth through Sports".
