Mission Statement
The mission of the Future Foundation of Sacramento is to provide volunteer mentoring and scholarship funding to local financially-qualified students in support of their college education.
About This Cause
We help low-income, would be first-in-family college students gain admission to and graduate college. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with one staff person, we operate thanks to a volunteer Board of Directors, additional volunteers and program supporters. Beyond scholarship awards, we empower our students with the resources of mentoring, customized awards, renewable funding and financial aid advocacy. The benefits of being a Future Sacramento scholarship awardee include receiving mentoring and assistance with accessing college, participating in college-prep activities and Financial Aid workshops, and the opportunity to receive up-to five years in college funding - value of $25,000. Our complete program approach makes the Future Sacramento scholarship more effective in fully funding students' educations as they persist to graduation and earn their first-in-family college degree. Our scholarship awardees persist in college better than the average student, and at an even higher rate when compared to their low-income, first-generation college student peers. All Future Sacramento graduates earned degrees faster than the national average of six years. Most of our scholarship recipients graduate in four years. 75% of our awardees renew our scholarship annually and graduate with their college degree!
