Mission Statement
Service Mentors is a not for profit organization sponsoring humanitarian projects in Guatemala including the Hogares Seguros Para Ninos orphanage in Solola, Asociacion Meson Buen Samaritano nursing home in Comalapa and the SMI Learning Center in Guatemala City. The orphanage cares for 30+ neglected and abandoned children. Service Mentors will continue to support the orphanage this year as well as its on-going nutritional and educational programs for needy women and children in nearby communities. The Asociacion Meson Buen Samaritano in Comalapa is a nursing home that cares for 30+ pacients who otherwise would not have the care they need. The SMI Learning Center teaches vocational skills and English language skills to low income youth so they can prepare and qualify for better paying work. We also conduct memorable and rewarding humanitarian tours to Guatemala for volunteers interested in working directly with our projects. We continue to offer micro-credit and technical assistance to small business startups. And we will continue to expand our reach to help others in other areas of need including health care.
About This Cause
Service Mentors is a 501(c)3, tax exempt organization with EIN #80-0322348 registered as a not for profit corporation in Texas. The purpose of Service Mentors is to provide principle-oriented and values based assistance, training, mentoring, micro-business, and related humanitarian aid and services for the poor and needy throughout afflicted areas and communities of the Americas. The organization is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and/or scientific purposes under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, that are consistent with any and all lawful purposes and powers described in the Texas Business Organizations Code, as amended and supplemented. Service Mentors sponsors the following projects in Guatemala: 1 Hogares Seguros Para Ninos orphanage in Los Robles, Solola 2 Asociacion Meson Buen Samaritano nursing home in Comalapa 3 SMI Learning Center, vocational and language training center in Guatemala City 4 humanitarian service tours for volunteers interested in assisting our projects directly 5 micro-enterprise program to assist small business start-ups with necessary technical training and microcredit 6 sponsoring dba for MedLaser Foundation for Medical Laser Research, Education, & Training With increased funding, Service Mentors, will launch other projected programs for the needy in other countries.
