Mission Statement
To make competitive debate education available to Bay Area public schools so that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential as engaged learners, critical thinkers, and capable civic advocates.
About This Cause
Believing that debate increases students’ academic performance and trains them to become community leaders, the BAUDL works to make competitive policy debate available to Bay Area high school students. With every year in the program, Urban Debaters increase literacy scores by 25% and raise GPAs by around 10%. Urban Debaters have a HS graduation rate of nearly 100%, and four-year college matriculation rates around 80%.
