About This Cause
Founded in 2007, we have been working with communities in rural Haiti for the past 10 years. Roots of Development’s mission is to support and promote a community-driven approach to development—an approach that is based on strengthening the management capacity of local leaders so they can improve the quality of life in their communities. We help local leaders form community associations that serve the local population and acquire legal recognition with the Haitian government. Every year we provide these associations with local facilitators that help them strengthen their management skills and complete community-driven projects such as clean water facilities, home construction, solar energy systems & lighting, and community businesses. Roots of Development is a 501(c)(3) organization that is audited annually by an independent certified public accountant.
