About This Cause
Gender Justice is a nonprofit legal and advocacy organization whose mission, from its founding in June 2010, has been to eliminate every form of gender barrier, whether linked to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. By dedicating ourselves to eliminating all forms of gender discrimination, Gender Justice highlights the connections between gender stereotyping and sexism, misogyny, gender hierarchy, homophobia and biphobia, transphobia, and gender policing. At Gender Justice, we believe that understanding these connections helps everyone advocate more powerfully for equality. Gender Justice pursues our mission through three program areas – impact litigation, policy advocacy, and education. By integrating that work, we maximize our impact: We use impact cases to clarify the reach of existing law. Where impact cases demonstrate a gap in the law, we advocate for new policies to fill the gap. Finally, we use education to close the circle, bringing the public critical information about the need for gender equality under the law.
