Mission Statement
Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels is a faith-based community response to family homelessness. In collaboration with 20 area congregations, professional staff members provide guidance to families with children who are navigating through the crisis of homelessness. FPGNB provides case management to help families achieve and sharpen vital life skills such as financial literacy, employability, and child care to help the family achieve permanent independence. When families successfully complete the shelter component of FPGNB and graduate into their own home, they have acquired tools for independence such as permanent, full-time employment; safe, reliable child care, a healthy savings, and a reliable, working budget. Once in their own home, the family transitions into A New Lease on Life aftercare program for one year which further helps families strengthen their life skills to solidify their journey to self-sustainability.
About This Cause
Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels is a 501(c)3 whose mission is to mobilize the faith community to help low-income families achieve and sustain independence. FPGNB is an interfaith, nonsectarian organization created to help families transition out of homelessness and into their own home. The program is part of a National model that utilizes a network of local congregations that offer hospitality providing shelter, meals and emotional support to families with children. Family Promise is one of over 200 affiliates across 42 states and involves over 6000 congregations and 170,000 volunteers (2015). In addition to the congregational support, Family Promise provides professional case management work with families intensively to achieve self-sufficiency by polishing life skills such as financial literacy, employability, child care and personal growth. Once families complete the FPGNB shelter component and move into their own home, they transition into A New Lease on Life aftercare program where they receive professional guidance and educational opportunities for an additional year to further strengthen their journey to independence.
