About This Cause
Luvable Dog Rescue was started by Liesl Wilhardt and has been going for 15 years! We are located on 55 beautiful acres in Eugene Oregon where dogs go on daily walks on hiking trails, live in adorable cottages and get extensive time with their trainers, caregivers and volunteers! We rescue little dogs and pitbulls from high kill shelters out of California and Oregon primarily. They are brought here where they receive needed veterinary care, training, non-stop love and attention by staff and volunteers and ultimately find their forever home through a very careful screening process done by our adoption counselors. We continue to follow up with the adopters post adoption to offer behavioral advice and to be an ongoing support system for their new family. We are committed to these dogs throughout the rest of their lives and will take back any dog after any extended period of time over their lifetime if their family can no longer care for them. If dogs are returned to us we go through the process again to find them a new loving home. We offer a very unique adoption process here called a "Sleepover." When an adopter finds a dog they would like to adopt, they put their adoption fee as a deposit which holds the dog for a weeks time. They take the dog home and have an entire week to acclimate the dog to their home and make sure they are a good match for their family and lifestyle. During that week we continually follow up with the adopters to help guide them through any obstacles that may arise. If they decide the dog is not a good match then they can bring them back that week for their adoption fee back or to try another dog that might be better suited for them. If they absolutely love their new canine companion then we finalize the adoption and start the process of post adoption support for their new family member. We realize how important it is to have the right dog for the right family to make sure they can commit for their entire lives. We are here as a support system throughout the dogs' lives in every possible capacity!
