Mission Statement
Friends of Noise is a 501-c3 organization that fosters healing and growth for the youth in our community via the arts by hosting inclusive all ages concerts and workshops. We host all age concerts that provide live performance opportunities for youth artist and hands on experience for emerging youth techs. We teach Music Biz professional development workshops so that young people can have a baseline skill set to navigate the music scene and grow into a sustainable music ecosystem that is guided by themselves.
About This Cause
All Ages Music Portland aka Friends of Noise is a 501-c3 organization that fosters healing and growth for the youth in our community via the arts by hosting inclusive all ages concerts and workshops. We believe that by creating safer spaces where young artists and audiences can come together to express themselves will be a catalyst for high self esteem and greater community engagement. Our core programming is comprised of the development of workshop/ camps that provide the necessary instruction and training so that our youth committees can book and produce our all ages concerts and our youth sound engineers can run sound at our concerts. We pay all of our artist and sound engineers for their labor as well as advocate for youth artists on our roster to get paid for their performances at other venues. With a growing roster of 150+ youth artist we also provide booking services for other organizations like Portland Farmers Market, Portland Parks, Recreation as well as Portland Art Museum to name a few. We are super thrilled to also offer event sound services that are staffed by our youth sound engineers. We provide our youth participants multiple chances to perform and run sound so that they have repetitive opportunities to practice their skills. This is paid work experience that will have a long-term positive impact on our youth participants All of our Friends of Noise concerts have multi-generational line ups. Even though we center our concerts on our youth performers we always have adult performers also play to provide mentorship and insight into this potential career path.
