Girls Build inspires curiosity and confidence in girls through the world of building
About This Cause
Girls Build offers building programming to girls 8 - 14 years old through summer camps and after school classes. At camp, girls learn through four 80-minute workshops per day for five days. During after-school programming, girls learn through 90 minute sessions once a week for six weeks. Girls Build teaches many different trades, bringing in expert tradeswomen in each trade, to both teach and act as role models. Girls have built lamps and clocks, soldered copper, built small wind turbines and installed solar panels, repaired large water pipe leaks, installed cedar shake roofing, bent and riveted sheet metal, wired a light and switch, and much more. Girls learn, have fun, and feel empowered to explore the world around them.
