Mission Statement
Pueblo Nuevo Education and Development Group supports and invests in the work of Camino Nuevo Charter Academy by providing centralized management, targeted enrichment programs, resource development, and capacity-building. Camino Nuevo’s mission is to educate students in a college preparatory program to be literate, critical thinkers, and independent problem solvers who are agents of social justice with sensitivity toward the world around them.
About This Cause
Founded in 2016, Pueblo Nuevo Education & Development Group advances educational opportunity for students at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy through targeted support and enrichment programs that provide whole child growth. We believe all children, regardless of zip code or household income, deserve access to a free, college preparatory education. The Camino network serves 3,400 students from preschool - 12th grade at our seven schools, as well as an additional 600+ alumni who are working through college. Our students are predominantly low-income students of color in the MacArthur Park neighborhoods of Central Los Angeles. Together, Pueblo Nuevo and Camino Nuevo deliver a continuum of programs and services to help increase educational equity and expand educational opportunities for students. Programming priorities include increased access to early childhood education; expanding access and fostering success in higher education; STEAM learning for underrepresented groups; arts enrichment; cultural and ethnic studies; on-site mental health services; connecting students and families to wraparound supports that address basic needs and enhance well-being; and, engaging authentically with families and partners to strengthen communities. We anchor ourselves in our core values of community, equity, excellence, innovation, and joy. From early childhood to high school graduation and into college, we provide students the guidance and education they need to pursue their own pathway to success.
