Mission Statement
We believe in the healing powers of clay! We endeavor to fulfill our mission to make ceramic arts more accessible to people of all abilities and ages. We do this by providing scholarships to at least a quarter of the kids in our afterschool, holding regular free community days for local residents, offering free or subsidized ceramic classes to local low income high school students, seniors, and adults with special needs. Artshack is developing accountability as an anti-racist, queer-affirming organization that celebrates the creativity of youth and honors people of all abilities.
About This Cause
We provide free and subsidized art and ceramic classes and summer camp for kids. We provide free art class scholarship for low income high school students, seniors, adults with special needs and others. We work with local artists to provide free community day art events for all age groups in our community. We provide BIPOC art scholarships residents of historically black Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. We partner with Public Schools across Brooklyn to provide free school visits and art classes for hundreds of students per year. As of Summer 2023 we are proud to provide one 100% free and one 50% subsidized scholarship in every adult class across our program.
