Mission Statement
We are a nonprofit deeply committed to breaking the cycle of Father Absence for our families of color in the SF Bay Area, by providing the culturally relevant knowledge, skills, resources, and support for young men and Fathers to thrive. Informed and compelled by our lived experience, we harness decades of evidence based research to design and customize our Fatherhood, and Life Skills curriculum, to address the unique needs of low-income men and families of color. Since 2016, M2M has provided comprehensive programs, and wraparound services via key partners, centered on healing, self-actualization, and creating a new foundation for lasting systems change. New positive belief systems, broad based life skills, Fatherhood education, mentorship, community, and job readiness and placement, are the core elements of our work.
About This Cause
Man 2 Man – Urban Youth Advocate is dedicated to empowering disadvantaged and marginalized youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our focus is on young African American males in Oakland, and we have recently expanded to include youth and young adult men of color in Alameda and Marin Counties, as well as East Palo Alto. Our Programs: Can We Have a Conversation? – Training and Internship: Our cable television talk show addresses critical issues relevant to young Black men, including mental health, spiritual accountability, and socioeconomic concerns. Participants gain hands-on experience in Audio/Video and Television Production, earning certifications in various fields. These skills open doors to careers in media production, job placement, or self-employment. M2M (Mentoring to Manhood): Our mentorship program serves boys and young men of color, aged 10 to 24. We provide life skills and encourage personal development based on practical Biblical principles. Through group discussions, participants find support and discover wholeness, serenity, and a fulfilling life. Anger Management: Our curriculum focuses on domestic violence education, prevention, and group counseling. We incorporate spiritual accountability to promote long-term success for program graduates. The Recon Restoration – Fatherhood Classes: Our Fatherhood program aims to restore the role of Black men as nonresident fathers, working together with their co-parents to raise their children. We offer co-parenting and team parenting curriculum to help parents overcome personal relationship challenges for the sake of their children. Our Impact: Participant feedback consistently reflects the effectiveness of our programs, with a 100% approval rate and a willingness to recommend the sessions to others. We are working to implement a more concrete measure of individual progress. Support Us: We invite your business to become a sponsor for our non-profit organization. Your contributions are not only tax-deductible but also deeply appreciated. For a one-time donation, your business will be listed on our donors/sponsor page for twelve months. With monthly recurring sponsorship, your business logo will be displayed on our brochure. Make a difference by supporting the Man 2 Man Urban Youth Advocate Program.
