Mission Statement
United Through Education builds better communities through the education of the whole family. We offer family based classes with a focus of reading, math, science, technology, health and arts to create a healthy community with a passion for lifelong learning and development.
About This Cause
For the safety of our families during the coronavirus pandemic, United through Education is a 9-week virtual training course that promotes parent engagement in their child's education. During pandemic times, our goal is to be a valuable resource to those who are most vulnerable in our community by teaching relevant topics that will help parents create healthy positive learning environments in the home to be successful during distance learning and support families with necessary resources during this time of crisis. ------------------------- The United through Education program fosters academic excellence in student’s households and in the classroom by integrating families within their homes and into the education system. During the course, families are taught many strategies and are provided with the necessary tools to get involved in their children’s education. United through Education strengthens and supports existing district and school family engagement goals by practicing each of the National PTA Standards for Family School Partnerships. Each week the families have the opportunity to learn and work together on projects in a nurturing environment. During the workshop, parents learn the importance of their role in their children’s academic success. Involvement in their children’s education enhances the development process of bright minds and engages both children and parents in multi-level intelligence experiences. Most parents are often told what to do, but are unaware of how to do this effectively. In this workshop, parents and their children work together to learn how to improve in a variety of topics such as reading comprehension strategies, math and science skills, and developing habits for a healthy lifestyle. Effective communication between the parents and teachers are highly stressed. Research has shown that when families are involved in schools, students are more successful, both in the immediate and in the long term. Both parents and children are empowered academically, socially and emotionally by United through Education. After completing the training program, families realize that knowledge is power! Graduating families have noticed and experienced many benefits including: An understanding of reading strategies and math concepts. A positive attitude and love of learning that extends beyond the classroom and into their homes. A continual sense of accomplishment that raises confidence and self-esteem. A drive to perform at their highest potential. A desire and motivation to learn to achieve their own goals. A deeper family bond centered around their child’s academic success and lifelong learning. A richer participation in the school and in the community. United through Education is successful in making a positive impact not only for the graduating families, but for their teachers, school and communities. With their renewed sense of accomplishment and self-confidence, families often use their knowledge to become active volunteers in the classroom .
