Mission Statement
Our mission is to co-create spaces of belonging and mutual support by collaboratively documenting and remixing underrepresented traditional musicians and their communities’ stories.
About This Cause
Since 2012, guided by our open-access and Fair Trade model, we have been traversing the globe to exchange and partner with unsung communities. We collaboratively record, film, and remix their rich musical traditions while offering free skill-sharing workshops to empower the people to creatively tell their own stories. We share the resulting audiovisual treasures on our interactive online platform. There, visitors from across the world experience the music as more than just the sounds: as a window into the people, landscapes, colors, and life stories. Visitors then engage with the music and musicians, download our unique tools for free to create their own remixes, and join our collective. We take the music, film and remixes to digital platforms, festivals, and cultural establishments worldwide. All financial gains are shared equally between co-creators. We forge lasting relationships based not on remote consumer culture, but on personal interaction and mutual respect. Participants of diverse backgrounds engage with each other, with curiosity and empathy, in a cultural and technological call-and-response, helping build stronger, healthier, and more just communities.
