Snehalaya America Inc., is a 501 C(3) organization started in NJ to raise funds for a Non-Government Organization in India called Snehalaya, and other worthy charitable causes.. Snehalaya is based in Ahmednagar, India.
About This Cause
Snehalaya Americas was started primarily as a organization that would raise funds for worthy charitable organizations. It is closely associated with Snehalaya, a NGO based out of Ahmednagar, India. The founders of Snehalaya Americas are a group of volunteers who have raised over $550K in funds over the last 10 years by doing Indian musical fund raising events, and through generous support from individuals and corporations. Snehalaya in India (www.snehalaya.org) was founded in 1989 by Dr. GIrish Kulkarni. Since then, they have come a long way. They started with education programs for a handful of children of sex workers and palliative care for people affected by AIDS. They now serve over 29,000 beneficiaries each year running 16 key projects across four key areas -- education, healthcare, rehabilitation, and awareness, that help their beneficiaries thrive in life. Their services are primarily for Women & Children and LGBT communities affected by poverty and the commercial sex industry. They help to fight HIV and AIDS and to end human trafficking, improve education for deprived children and campaign for justice to bring rescue, rights and rehabilitation to those that need it. Snehalaya Americas also supports other organizations such as Manavi, United Sikhs, Project Udaan, Akshay Patra, etc., which work with underprivileged women and children. None of our officers are compensated in any way, and all contributions that are collected, minus basic operating expenses (usually less than 5%) are passed on to the organizations we support.
