About This Cause
Radiant Earth Foundation is focused on applying machine learning for Earth observation to meet the Sustainable Development Goals – the world’s most critical challenges. Founded in 2016, Radiant Earth’s vision is a strengthened global development community that benefits from high-quality and trusted ML and EO resources for positive global impact. We achieve this through three areas of work: Maintaining Radiant MLHub, the world’s first cloud-based open library dedicated to Earth observation training data for use with machine learning algorithms. Designed to encourage widespread data collaboration, Radiant MLHub allows anyone to access, store, register, and share open training datasets for high-quality Earth observations. Facilitating a Community of Practice contributing to the development of standards around ML on EO and expanding the interoperability of these tools and datasets. The community helps to identify where there are gaps in knowledge and shapes ongoing work to find solutions that address the needs of practitioners around the world. Providing Outreach, Information & Awareness amongst global development actors, data scientists, and geospatial professionals on progress and innovation in the ML and EO marketplace, and offering training opportunities that help to build the capacity of those working in the sector.
