Mission Statement

The Youth Transportation Organization (Yoots.org) is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to eliminate transportation as a barrier to equity for low-income and under-represented youth.

About This Cause

Yoots provides transportation and transportation services for youth serving nonprofits and title one schools. ** Our "Free Rides on BART for Field Trips" program aims to provide 400,000 student rides per year. In a region where private school and well funded school children go on 4-6 field trips per year, Title One students average fewer than ONE per year. Our goal is to provide sustainable funding to educators so they can plan on 4 trips per year. ** Thousands of awe-inspiring non-profit organizations have created brilliant programs to give opportunities to underrepresented youth: free doctor appointments, trips to science centers, museums, the outdoors, sports camps, art, music, theater and dance classes and so much more. Getting participants effectively, safely and cost efficiently to and from off-site activities is one of the most cited challenges facing all types of nonprofits, schools and programs Transportation budgets for our partners reach 50% of their operating costs and in some cases, organizations have simply given up trying to help the kids get to their programs. Our intention is to help every child participate in all activities equally, and never allowing transportation to be the barrier to that goal. We broaden the reach of every non-profit and school by removing the difficulty of finding and scheduling affordable transportation. This helps our partners focus on their already vital programs and grow their reach to a more diverse population and serve children who otherwise could not participate.
