About This Cause

ABOUT CAUSA AND THE CONTEMPLATIVE RESOURCE CENTER 1. Causa, a 501(c )(3) Charity and Causa DBA’s. 2. The Contemplative Resource Center's Physical Home: The West 1077 Guest Ranch 3. An Introduction to the Contemplative Resource Center 1. CAUSA Causa [Causa.international] is a 501(c)(3) charity established in Washington State in 2016 by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. CAUSA also does business as “The Contemplative Resource Center” and “The West 1077 Guest Ranch.” The name “Causa” is from the Latin meaning “for the sake of” or simply “cause, condition, motivation,” and so on. Causa was founded by Ponlop Rinpoche for the sake of supporting individuals and communities through education and the cultivation of wisdom, compassion, and ethical conduct. Causa makes grants to qualified non-profit organizations and has a special interest in programs intended to alleviate suffering and poverty. A focus of Causa’s grants will be for the purpose of supporting victims of human trafficking, and the relief of poverty in areas damaged by war or environmental disasters. 2. THE CONTEMPLATIVE RESOURCE CENTER’S PHYSICAL HOME: THE WEST 1077 GUEST RANCH The Contemplative Resource Center – CRC [crctexas.info] is a special project of Causa. CRC was established in 2019 as a nonprofit Health and Wellness center incorporating contemplative education methods to support the development of individuals and the growth of harmonious, healthy, and sustainable communities. The physical home of CRC is located on the West 1077 Guest Ranch, Bandera, TX, where plans are underway for the construction of our campus facilities. The West 1077 Guest Ranch [west1077.com] is an operational “B&B” style Western guest ranch situated on 227 acres in the Texas Hill Country. The ranch was purchased by Causa in 2019 to be the physical home of the CRC. The guest ranch has been receiving local and international guests for decades, and we are continuing to welcome our B&B guests. At the same time, the ranch offers onsite CRC Health & Wellness programs and services and privately arranged retreats. 3. AN INTRODUCTION TO THE CONTEMPLATIVE RESOURCE CENTER [CRC] The Contemplative Resource Center [CRC] is a nonprofit Health and Wellness center located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. CRC provides individuals, families and groups with contemplative training and education that nurtures the growth of harmonious, healthy, and sustainable communities. CRC hosts teachers and programs grounded in authentic spiritual and cultural traditions that value wisdom, compassion, understanding, and a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of all beings and the natural environment that sustains us. Our five program areas are: The Contemplative Mind, Health and Wellness, Personal and Professional Development, the Creative Arts, and Nature Appreciation and Environmental Education. Bringing a contemplative approach to our learning and other activities fosters self-awareness and the growth of confidence and compassion. Good health must extend to our whole self – our mental, emotional and physical states. We experience genuine good health when body and mind are balanced, relaxed and in a state of integrated union. The practices of contemplation and meditation are key to developing the relaxation that supports good health on a deep level. They also support the development of a fully functioning mind—a mind that can be present, can concentrate, and be open and emotionally attuned, not only to ourselves and our environment, but equally to the circumstances and needs of others. In addition to programs that enhance personal growth and creativity, CRC has a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of communities. We welcome partnerships with local and national businesses and community-focused organizations that support the values of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion and seek to meet the evolving needs of families and communities facing a world of change, challenge, and opportunity. The health and quality of life of the individual and the larger environment in which they exist are interdependent. Personal growth plays an essential role in the health of the community, which in turn supports an environment in which relationships can thrive. Programs that cultivate habits of self-awareness, curiosity, and empathy can promote a change in attitudes and habits that have long led to misunderstandings and estrangement in neighborhoods, workplaces, and social groups. New ways of seeing make new forms of healthy communities possible, with greater equality and diversity in leadership, services, education, and job opportunities. In the pristine environment of the Texas Hill Country, CRC offers a unique combination of intellectual engagement and community outreach designed for promoting connection and community, with the belief that personal growth plays an essential role in the health of the individual and community.
