Mission Statement
To help and heal children and families who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect by providing the vital services they need.
About This Cause
Established in 2016, the Children's Advocacy Center d/b/a Children’s Advocacy Center Foundation (CACF) is dedicated to serving children and families who have been affected by abuse and neglect. Through our Service Agreement with Clark County, the CACF provides supportive services to the children and families seen at the Southern Nevada Children’s Advocacy Center (SNCAC). Operated by Clark County, the SNCAC is part of a national movement of child advocacy centers that use a multi-disciplinary team approach in the prevention, assessment, investigation, and treatment of suspected cases of child sexual abuse and severe neglect. As an agency partner, the CACF works directly with SNCAC personnel to identify gaps in services, support evidence-based programming, conduct community outreach, and fundraise in support of those we serve. The CACF has successfully implemented several programs designed to directly benefit children and families who have been hurt. These include the Vegas Heals and Community Closet and Food Pantry programs. In addition, the CACF engages in an annual back-to-school backpack and school supply drive and holiday stocking drive. Through its Vegas Heals program, the CACF offers free mental health services to disadvantaged children and families. This program ensures that child victims receive the continuum of care necessary to heal from child abuse trauma and achieve equitable outcomes. We provide support to victims who cannot afford services and help siblings and non-offending parents who experience trauma-related symptoms of their own. The Community Closet and Food Pantry program addresses the immediate needs of child victims and their families by providing essentials such as non-perishable food, hygiene, clothing, and other items. Often, the abuser is the primary source of income, and the non-offending parents, typically single mothers, struggle with socioeconomic stressors that hinder their ability to prevent abuse. Our support offers a reprieve as families figure out the next steps to prevent further victimization. In its ongoing pursuit to support survivors of child sexual abuse, the CACF launched Camp Thrive Las Vegas in June 2024. To be held each summer, this unique summer camp experience combines traditional camp activities with group therapy sessions tailored to children who have survived sexual abuse, ages 9 to 13. Camp Thrive Las Vegas aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for healing and growth. Together, the CACF and SNCAC work to address the unique needs of the children and families they serve, ensuring a cohesive and impactful response to child abuse—one that is centered around the core principles of One Place, One Voice, One Response!
