Mission Statement
VA statistics report that every day approximately 22 military veterans are killed by suicide, that is one every 65 minutes and this rate is more than twice the number of suicides of the civilian population. What is even more tragic less than 25% of Veterans even register with the VA and only 21 states report their data so the number is actually a lot higher than 22. No matter what the number is Race to Erase 22 believes that 1 is ONE TOO MANY. We can make a difference through awareness, education, support and partnering with other organizations and communities to make sure that the promise our Nation made to its military is kept and that are here for all who serve.
About This Cause
We are an all-volunteer organization made up of civilians, active duty and Veterans, off road racers and Veteran Advocates who volunteer our time to raise awareness about military suicide and provide resources and information about suicide prevention, treatments and assistance when in need. We work on trying to erase the stigma of mental illness and that is a sign of strength and not weakness to ask for help. We encourage the public to reach into anyone they think may need help, instead of waiting for them to reach out. In certain situations, provide financial assistance, or support to Veterans in temporary need or provide information of organizations that can assist. We also offer opportunities for our military to participate in jeep adventures, UTV rides and other off roading events. We honor many of our fallen soldiers we have lost to suicide due to the invisible wounds they incurred while serving our county by placing their photos and stories on our Gone, But Never Forgotten Memorial Wall and displaying our wall at public events. We share their stories so that they will never be forgotten and hopefully will prevent others from taking their own life.
