The Barrymore Film Center The Barrymore Film Center (BFC) stands at the crossroads of history and innovation, deeply rooted in Fort Lee, the birthplace of American cinema. As a not-for-profit educational and cultural institution, we are uniquely positioned to preserve the legacy of film while fostering the future of filmmaking and cultural arts. Since our inception, the BFC has consistently delivered on its mission to celebrate the art of cinema. Our programming includes a diverse array of screenings, series, and special events that attract thousands of visitors annually. Since opening our doors just over two years ago, we have already reached 25,000 coming through our museum, attending our shows, and touring our venue. Our programs have served a diverse audience, with 60% of our visitors coming from outside the Fort Lee area, showcasing our regional impact. We are poised on the precipice of even greater growth, expanding our reach and influence as a cultural hub for both local and regional communities. Through our partnership with Fort Lee High School, we are empowering students with disabilities to develop essential life skills by providing them with hands-on experience at our theater. Our collaboration extends beyond high school, supporting graduates with disabilities who continue to receive specialized assistance through their ongoing programs. Additionally, our work-study program offers practical experience, and we are proud that one of these work-study students has joined our staff, where they contribute to various roles and help train new participants. These programs collectively assist individuals in transitioning into meaningful employment or further skill development. Financial Support and Use of Funds Your contribution will enable us to expand our educational and cultural programming, support outreach to underserved communities, and invest in the growth of inclusive and accessible initiatives. Specific contributions will help fund: * Expanded educational programs, including workshops on filmmaking, screenwriting, and acting for after-school, home school, and field trips. * Expanded programming to include poetry jams, dance, music, theater, comedy, and family and senior programming such as Movies and Movement. * Community outreach efforts such as special screenings for individuals with autism and dementia. * Infrastructure improvements that enhance the visitor experience and enable more people to enjoy our offerings. Vision for the Future Looking ahead, the Barrymore Film Center is striving to engage 50,000+ people annually through an expanding mix of programs and partnerships with arts communities both locally and globally. Over the next five years, our goal is to become a leading cultural institution in the region, offering educational programs, industry panels, and immersive experiences that inspire creativity and spark engagement across generations. We plan to offer virtual programs to expand our reach and engage a wider audience. Additionally, we aim to continue providing field trips, open houses, museum exhibits, rentals, and various activities that highlight the contributions of culturally diverse pioneers who shaped the American film industry in Fort Lee. As we continue to grow, the Barrymore Film Center plays a crucial role in fostering creativity, connection, and enrichment for all.
