About This Cause
Ujima Way, Inc. – Company Overview Ujima Way, Inc. is a purpose-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in the powerful Kwanzaa principle of Ujima—collective work and responsibility. Founded in Riverdale, Georgia in 2017, Ujima Way exists to uplift, empower, and unify our communities by addressing the needs of those most often overlooked: high-risk and vulnerable citizens navigating poverty, homelessness, and systemic barriers to success. Our mission is to work collaboratively to mobilize people, resources, and solutions that transform lives and strengthen communities. We believe that our brothers' and sisters’ problems are our own, and only through shared commitment and collaborative effort can we create sustainable change. By cultivating a dynamic network of grassroots organizations, donors, and local leaders, we provide critical support to emerging nonprofits and drive real impact in areas where it's needed most. Our Vision To become the leading force for grassroots transformation—empowering underserved communities nationwide through innovation, unity, and purpose-driven investment. What We Do Ujima Way operates across five core program areas, each designed to tackle systemic inequities with strategic, community-led solutions: 1. Homelessness Support & Housing Initiatives Through our P.E.A.C.H. (Progressive Efforts and Approaches to Combat Homelessness) program, we provide both immediate and long-term support for young men ages 18–24 experiencing homelessness. Many are reentering society after incarceration, aging out of foster care, or simply in crisis with nowhere to turn. We currently operate one supportive housing program, entitled P.E.A.C.H. Residential which has the capacity to serve 4 young men. Through this program we serve an average of 12 young men annually. Residents stay an average of four months, during which 90% secure employment, reach personal goals, and transition into stable housing. Our work also extends to the streets through our P.E.A.C.H. Street Outreach initiative and H.O.V.E.R. (Homelessness Outreach Vehicle & Emergency Responder) unit. Weekly, we prepare and serve over 150 meals to individuals living unhoused in Clayton County. 2. Health & Wellness We connect high-risk youth and young adults ages 16–24 with mental health, substance abuse treatment, and wellness resources. Whether through direct services or strategic partnerships, we prioritize holistic care for those in crisis. 3. Employment & Entrepreneurship From job readiness and career training to entrepreneurship development and placement assistance, Ujima Way provides youth and young adults with tools to break generational cycles and build positive and successful futures. We particularly focus on those involved with the justice system or facing socioeconomic challenges. 4. Education & Nonprofit Capacity Building We equip small nonprofits—especially those with annual budgets under $250,000—with the knowledge, tools, and technical support needed to thrive. Through training, grant writing, and strategic planning, we’ve helped our 18-member nonprofit network secure significant funding and improve service delivery. 5. Direct Services & Community Empowerment Ujima Way supports high-risk youth and young adults through prevention, intervention, diversion, and re-entry programming. We deliver life skills, financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship workshops across schools, after school programs, and community organizations. Additionally, we provide vital case management, agency referrals, and access to essential items and services for unhoused individuals of all ages. Our Strategic Approach Ujima Way is on a mission to build a powerful, nationwide crowd-sourced network of philanthropists, donors, and affiliate agencies committed to investing in high-impact, community-centered solutions. We: • Tackle eight targeted priority areas: Publishing, Innovation & Technology, Youth Enrichment, High-Risk Youth, Entrepreneurship, Residential Services, Media, and S.W.A.T. • Recruit top-tier professionals and subject matter experts to lead initiatives with creativity and tactical precision. • Deliver innovative, research-informed programs that promote equity and resilience. • Invest in grassroots efforts through micro- and mini-grants, technical training, and operational support. • Empower youth with commission-based employment opportunities that build skills, promote Ujima Way’s mission, and generate meaningful income. • Host special events and campaigns to raise awareness and funds that fuel our impact. At Ujima Way, we don’t just support communities—we walk alongside them, solve problems together, and celebrate every victory, big or small. Because when we move as one, every step forward is a shared success.
