Mission Statement

Mission: To provide enriching opportunities for mid-career Black and African descent artists to achieve economically sustainable careers in the entertainment industry.

About This Cause

Origin Story: Started in 2015 with a small group of artists on a mission: friends helping friends create their projects. What started as a simple act to create work, given the dearth of opportunities for Black filmmakers, eventually blossomed into a dynamic and effective meetup group. By 2017, we were given 501(c)(3) non profit status, and it has been blue skies ever since. We are a creative workforce development and production hub for Black and Brown artists desperately working to achieve financial sustainability within the television and film industry. Toward that end, we provide critical production support enabling members to build a strong body of work. Since 2015, we have developed and supported over 200 productions. We supplement production support with labs focused on craft development and networking events to foster relationship building. There is power in numbers and together there is unlimited potential in what we can achieve. Goals: 1) Further diversify the employment in the TV & Film industry from a socio-economic, regional, and diversity perspective 2) Address a demonstrated need across the film and television production and post-production industries for additional workforce in this job function in these industries 3)Create a pathway to permanent jobs and connections with employment and/or union partnerships
