Mission Statement
OUR MISSION is to uplift people for generations to come through equal access to quality education, sustainable livelihoods for women, and responsible stewardship of the natural world.
About This Cause
We work in the Maasai Mara of Kenya among people who live closely with wildlife, and we are part of this community. We've been developing School Libraries, Learning Centers, Labs, and other educational resources at the most marginalized public schools here since 2017; and have developed a Women's Work Center, a Purified Water Facility, and Village Libraries that become community centers. Meanwhile, our legacy English Literacy program with teachers in rural Morocco, active since 2014, has evolved to a nationwide Short Story Competition for young people, with published books. Oliveseed is a small, frugal organization, and your gift goes directly to the work on the ground. We are a 501c3 in the U.S., and in Kenya we are co-registered as the community-based nonprofit Oliveseed Kenya Trust, with all local leadership. We have earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid's GuideStar (their highest rating); have collaborated with the Peace Corps in Morocco multiple times by invitation; have been vetted by corporate giving programs; and have earned grants from Rotary and twice from the U.S. Embassy in Morocco.
