Mission Statement
We have been making an impact in the lives of children with disabilities and individuals in underserved communities around the globe through education, training, therapeutic intervention, service projects, and economic development. We seek to redefine global travel with leaving an impact through GIVING. To ensure that children across the world have access to the services and resources they need to be successful in their everyday lives.
About This Cause
We are here to dispel the stigma around people living with disabilities on a global scale. Since 2017, Travel & GIVE (TAG) volunteers have traveled to underdeveloped communities, specifically Haiti, Kenya and Jamaica, to advocate for people living with disabilities by providing quality hands-on-therapy, and educating communities on inclusion through workshops. As an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we remain committed to our vision to dispel the stigmas around people living with disabilities. TAG's two ongoing programs include: EmpowerED workshop: An in-person workshop for parents, teachers, therapists, and community leaders facilitated by TAG professional volunteers, covering topics around special education and creating inclusive environments for individuals presenting with developmental delays. TAG-Cares Telehealth Services: TAG's Telehealth program, initiated in Kenya in March 2023, addresses the lack of access to therapeutic interventions for children (ages birth to 21) with disabilities in countries facing inclusivity challenges due to stigmas. Currently, 10 students in Nairobi, Kenya receive communication therapy by a hired local therapy aid, who receives supervision from TAG volunteer U.S. based Speech-Language Pathologists. TAG professionals provide screeners, treatment plans, and targeted goals to support clients with their communication skills. This initiative empowers educators to acquire therapeutic skills under TAG's supervision, promoting self-sustainability. Future plans involve expanding the program to include occupational therapy and mental health services.
