Mission Statement

The mission of CUFAIR is to support the integration into our community of immigrants, refugees & political asylees in their transition from often their crisis situation and dependency to full self-sufficiency in a safer and more secure situation.

About This Cause

CU FAIR (Champaign-Urbana Friends and Allies of Immigrants and Refugees) is an interfaith and community organization affiliated service organization of more than 35 faith-based and community organizations and nearly 100 active volunteers whose mission is to support immigrants, refugees and asylees from many backgrounds and status to face their challenges and help them create safe, secure, productive and happy homes in Champaign County. Since its humble beginning, CUFAIR has grown to include the support of over thirty-five (35) faith-based and community groups and hundreds of individuals from diverse backgrounds, country-of-origin, race, religion, ethnicity, and professional and social status. CUFAIR currently works with immigrants, refugees & political asylees from Afghanistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Central America, Mexico and more. We support our new friends and neighbors in finding housing and jobs, securing medical care and available benefits, identifying optimal English-as-a-Second-Language training, learning about family budgeting and, overall, with social and cultural integration. At CUFAIR, we take a holistic approach to strive to create a safe, productive, secure and happy community for immigrant families.
