Mission Statement
Hivewild is a contemporary dance and movement initiative. A New York State not-for-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization, Hivewild is composed of 20+ team members including dancers, photographers, videographers, costume designers and musicians, as well as seven board of directors. Members of Hivewild aim to be local leaders by actively engaging in cross-disciplinary collaboration, skill-sharing, and the creation of accessible performance work. While in public perception dance can seem cryptic and elusive, movement is intrinsic to each of our daily existences. Every human has a body, and Hivewild uses this understanding as a starting point to identify connections rather than differences between people. Engaging with this idea can allow greater mobility in thought, feeling, and action.
About This Cause
As a 501c3 New York City-based non-profit dance company, Hivewild’s team is made up of 13 dancers, 12 collaborating artists, 7 board members, and 7 members of the advisory committee ranging in ages from 22-50. Hailing from across the United States, Dominican Republic, Israel, Czech Republic, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, and Austria, Hivewild supports national and international artists who hold an 0-1 visa living and working in New York City. The entire Hivewild team is based in NYC, representing neighborhoods within Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan boroughs. Beyond nationality, our entire team includes both people of color and people of varying identities within the LGBTQ+ community.
