About This Cause
cardiacAWARE……… is exactly what our name describes…. to bring cardiac awareness to the fore-front by providing all individuals the information and direction, so that they may create a cardiac safe environment. In 2018, local Pittsburgher’s and co-founders Steve Englert and Gabe Jackson created the Pittsburgh non-profit cardiacAWARE because they believe that “Heart Disease” continues to be a very serious health issue. Today, even though there are many heart related organizations that have great programs, Heart disease is still the #1 killer in America. That statistic needs to change! With the lack of knowing the warning signs and symptoms of heart disease, far too many people are dying that could have been saved through simple awareness. June 2018, cardiacAWARE partnered with Allegheny county in their campaign to improve the health and wellbeing of Allegheny County residents and became a “Live Well Allegheny” Partner. This Partnership is about “Creating Opportunities”. For us, it’s Opportunities to help reduce Chronic Disease [heart attacks, cardiovascular conditions and strokes] and Physical Inactivity. Our Vision is accomplished by empowering all individuals with…… “The Knowledge” for knowing and recognizing the warning signs and symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, or sudden cardiac arrest. “The Understanding” with the resourcefulness to call 9-1-1, start administering Hands- Only CPR and knowing where an AED is located and how to use one. “The Ability” to allow them to be the individual who reacts in a pro-active manner and becomes that needed lifesaving bystander. Becoming Pro-Active is solving a future possible problem. cardiacAWARE solves the problem of cardiac awareness, by creating community outreach programs that not only will grow within the community and environments but will be backed and endorsed by local corporate partnerships and national organizations. cardiacAWARE – Founders Stephen W.
