Mission Statement
The Teen Warehouse, Inc. (TWH) is a dynamic space in Northeast Wilmington designed for teens by teens that provides our city’s youth with the tools and opportunities they need to become confident, courageous, and contributing young adults who will make a positive difference in our world. The mission of The Warehouse is to create a collaborative culture to revolutionize teen engagement.
About This Cause
The Warehouse works alongside the REACH Riverside Development Corporation (REACH), on a comprehensive community revitalization effort in the Riverside neighborhood in Northeast Wilmington. Through a shared services agreement, The Warehouse, REACH and Kingswood Community Center are collectively known as the “WRK Group.” The WRK Group empoys the Purpose Built Communities revitalization model, creating high-quality mixed-income housing, a cradle to college/career education pipeline, and community wellness initiatives to transform Riverside into a healthy, thriving community. TWH is a dynamic space in Northeast Wilmington designed for teens, by teens that provides youth with the tools and opportunities they need to become confident, courageous, and contributing young adults who will make a positive difference in our world. Serving up to 125 teens daily, TWH is a convener of partners whose programs are teen-centric and focused on youth development within the R.E.A.C.H. (Recreation, Education, Arts, Career and Health) pillars. The programming encourages discovery, empowers ambition, and helps prepare teens for the workforce and higher education opportunities. A cohort of teen leaders sets the agenda, shapes programming to meet their needs and interests, and leads outreach efforts to welcome all members of their community to the space. Offerings span a full range of academic enrichment, athletics, performing and visual arts, wellness and mental health programs. TWH is a state-of-the-art space boasting a small theatre, a visual arts room, dance studio, a demonstration kitchen, meeting rooms of varying sizes and open space for hanging out. There are four classrooms that are used by resident partners. These partners include Delaware State University Center for Neighborhood Revitalization and Research, an evaluation partner (CNRR); the Department of Health and Human Services, Strive and ChristianaCare Health System, which provides a health suite for the teens.
