Mission Statement

We are building a community to promote awareness and research to make a cure a reality for SMARD/CMT2S patients and their families suffering from the IGHMBP2 mutation.

About This Cause

SMARD stands for Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress. There is little known about this ultra rare and often fatal disease. Its rarity is of no comfort for the families affected by SMARD. We are working to build a community to support IGHMBP2 related disorders (SMARD/CMT2S), children and families affected by this horrific disease.
