Mission Statement
We are a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to fund projects that enhance Grand Teton National Park’s cultural, historic, and natural resources and to help others learn about and protect all that is special in the park. By funding initiatives that go beyond what the National Park Service could accomplish on its own, the Foundation initiates improvements, critical research, and projects that help better connect visitors to the park, creating a stable future for Grand Teton and the experiences of those who visit.
About This Cause
Grand Teton National Park Foundation (GTNPF) is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to fund projects that enhance Grand Teton National Park’s (GTNP) cultural, historic, and natural resources and to help others learn about and protect all that is special in the park. By funding initiatives that go beyond what the National Park Service (NPS) could accomplish on its own, the Foundation initiates improvements, critical research, and projects that help better connect visitors to the park, creating a stable future for Grand Teton and the experiences of those who visit. The Foundation was established in 1997 by a group of individuals who shared a vision of improving the park and building a world-class visitor center. The Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center and auditorium not only realized that goal, but also transformed a young friends group into an organization with a clear vision and a network of loyal supporters. Today, GTNPF is recognized as one of the strongest friends groups to partner with the NPS. As of 2015, the Foundation has raised more than $40 million for work-and-learn programs that connect youth to nature, education, diversity initiatives, capital projects, wildlife research and protection, and cultural preservation. Inspiring Journeys, a $17 million renewal project that is transforming the park’s most popular destination, is the Foundation’s gift to the park for the NPS centennial in 2016.
